My first review would have only been one stars since I had called one evening to see what their hours were. A young man answered the phone who said "Scotties we're closed" and hung up the phone. I could definitely figure out that they are closed with that comment yet, it didn't help me understand when they are normally open/closed. I decided last night to give them a shot again, and happened to drive by and stop. I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger with a side of tater tots. The total cost was $7.90. I had to wait a while for the food to be cooked and delivered to me. That is fine since they were cooking to order, and I would much rather have that, then old food. I ate my food at home and it was not the best. The tatertots were cooked in old oil, could tell it just by the taste and look of them. Next the double bacon cheeseburger was okay, the burger was dry, and was like any old fashioned burger joint. I will be back to try their chicken, and ice cream.

I understand people think it has some sort of nostalgic quality but does that excuse poor service, a filthy kitchen and seating area on top of terrible quality food? The place smelled so strongly of old, well used grease and the teenagers behind the counter were all rude (like that popular cocky jock in HS you would have loved to beat the crap out of). We live in this town and know many people who say the same thing, it "was" once fun but now it's dirty and overpriced. Of course the ripe old drunk guy sitting inside when we dropped in for a simple ice cream (really how hard can that be?) added to the "overly lived in" charm. Two Hours later you'll be saying...pass the Pepto!

been coming here ever since I could remember. would always come here with my dad and get supers with fries. Its the only thing I have had on the menu. Good burgers and fries. yet to try their milkshakes but I will totally try it the next time I go there.

I remember coming here since i was 10 years old going to school at Tom Mccall Elementary. Their ice cream is the BEST. I always get the swirl. Its still as good as it was back then. Plus the food here is cheap. The customer serv. here isn't the best. They're all teenage kids prob. from Viking H.S and have that idc about anything attitude. So, don't expect alot from them.

This is a Christmas tradition at our house...go cut our tree and eat Scotty's for lunch. Great burgers and fries. My son and older daughter absolutely love anthing with their chlli - burgers, hot dogs, or just a cup with chili. I love, love, love their "broasted: chicken. I am not sure I have eaten anything else so you will have to take the word of my family wehn it comes to the other dishes. Shakes always seem to be a favorite and I love the nostalgic decor. Great service and traditional old school drive in burger fair. Skip the Micky D's and go to Scotty's We love it!

I managed to stop in just before Thanksgiving during a work-related trip. Ordered the ham & cheese sammwich, mmmmm. me likey. Dripping w/ good stuff, I'll go back fo sho'. Was especially tasty after a day in the rain & cold. This place spends their energy on making quality short order combos, so you won't find any rediculously priced bell & whistle type items. Onion rings are ok, but the sammmwiches are king.

The supercheese is their speciality. Three patties and a ton of fries. Come to this place if you are interested in quantity of food. It teeters on the edge of greasy spoon. They also have soft serve cones.

This is a "PASS" on it place....sub-par burgers and tasteless chicken. Shakes are missing the mark, and the place truely needs a remodel. Problem is not much else to choose from in Forest Grove.....and hell I live here.....Drive a little further and go to the Cruise In Country Dinner.....off Farmington Rd....

Went and got a bacon cheese burger with fries today for lunch. The burger was good and it seemed like they used fresh ingredients. I probably wouldn't go for the fries again if I went back, just didn't really have any flavor. The tots I saw on another plate looked great though. Friendly service and they look to employ summer high school students, good for them!

We get double cheeseburgers here whenever we come here. Definitely some of the best burgers you'll find in Washington County area. We also get the banana milkshake when we go, also probably the best around.

Jaw dropping. Great shakes, better fries, even better burgers. The fries need salt, but these burgers are to die for. Helvetia Tavern has nothing on here. Ten percent discount to Pacific u students. Coffee shake is sharp without being overwhelming. Perfect! I'm coming here again. And again. And again. And again.

This place is awesome! Best burger place around! Friendly service with a smile! I recommend the super bacon cheese burger, it comes with fries! Bring your appetite because it is a mammoth of a burger! I live in Portland but make the trip (it's worth it)

3.5 stars, I suppose? Whatever. Scotties = serviceable! I've visited a handful of times over the years, and Scottie's reminds me of Mike's Drive-In over on the east side, which I grew up with. Simple, basic, good burgers and fries in a very drive-in/diner (but not dive) setting. I've had both the basic single and double cheeseburgers. I like 'em. Again, nothing fancy, but they're hot and tasty. Not quite on par with somewhere like Helvetia Tavern, but that's okay! They've got something on the menu called the "Supercheese" which is 3 patties (I think) and corresponding cheese, but the double's always been more than enough for me. I love Scottie's fries. Simple, crispy shoestring jobbers. Perfect (for me). I can't comment on the milkshakes - I've never had one. I'm not much of a milkshake guy. I wouldn't so much call Scottie's a destination; rather it's an afterthought. If you have business in Forest Grove, happen to be hungry and you're looking for a slice of Americana in a rural setting - Scottie's is a fantastic choice.

This is an old school drive in. You can eat in you car. Not that glamorous but still fun once in a while. The fries and shakes are a throwback to the 50's and 60's. The staff can get behind during rush hour, but are usually helpful. Chicken strips are very big.

Growing up in the Grove and attending school at Tom McCall, it was a class tradition to walk over to Scottie's after school. Back then (29 years ago) we could go to Scottie's and get a Baby Cone for $.25 and until their cone manufacturer stopped making the baby sized cones about a month ago, you could still go in and get a Baby Cone for less than $1. Raising my child in the same area I grew up in is priceless. To experience all my favorite childhood hangouts with my son all over again for the last 15 years has been great...Yet none are truly greater than going to Scottie's on our traditional Mother-Son Days and grabbing a side of tots and one of their many flavors of hand mixed milk shakes. Scottie's has been a landmark of Western Washington County for decades and I'm hoping it remains around for decades to come. Nothing beats pulling into their iconic Drive-In parking lot, ordering at the window and eating in your car with the kids. Heck, take the dogs too, they'd love to have their own order of tots with a side of ice cream...I know mine do

My husband and I drive from Molalla to come to one of the few places that make broasted chicken! I've also tried the steak fingers..... I'm not a big burger girl,so we'll continue to drive long distance for the great chicken and fries and great vanilla shakes! This is a great Drive Inn ( something we're losing) in the day of crappy McDonalds that people accept as decent food to consume! Please continue to keep up the great traditions !

I grew up in Forest Grove and Scotties was the best. I have been visiting Scotties for years and when I grew up, I moved far away so now only like maybe once every couple of months. Either way the food was delicious. Apparantley 4-5 months ago, they changed their meat company and who they get their chicken strips from, sadly, I will never go back there again. I called up and the person I spoke to said that they use Ponderosa meats now which according to him, tastes better. Well sorry to say but I am not a vegetarian but I also do not like to eat hamburger that tastes like it has just been butchered. The worst after taste ever and I only ate about a quarter of the burger before I noticed the awful flavor. The man on the other end actually had the nerve to say "oh well, if you don't like it, I guess go somewhere else" really, considering the fact that I just spent 10.00 on a burger meal, you would think he would be a little on the customer is always right side. Well, 25 years later, I am finally ready to say, no more Scotties and will be telling all my friends and family which always frequent there as well, so you can say goodbye to me ane everyone else I know.

It's what you expect a drive-in burger place to be! Simple burgers and french fries/onion rings that hit the spot :)

If your in forest grove this is not a bad spot to get some good old american burgers, fries, and shakes. Nice soft serve ice cream, reasonable prices, and gives you a nice retro feel of home town America!

  • Jack T.

It's not bad, but it's nothing great either. The burgers are greasy and flavorful, exactly what you'd expect for a drive-in. If you like those kinds of burgers, personally I do, than I would recommend this. So I can't complain in that department. The fries and onion rings have ranged from bad to okay when I've gone there. The fries especially, more than once I've gone there to find my fries stiff, cold, and generally unappetizing. Their ice cream isn't good. It's soft serve, so there's not a whole lot you'd expect from it anyways, but it still manages to disappoint. It's watery and lacks flavor, not to mention it's oddly steep price. Their milk shakes though are actually pretty good, if you're going there for desert, I would recommend them. My personal favorite is the Oreo milkshake. It's a bit pricey for what it is, but it is good. The service is pretty lame, they always seem to be deeply depressed by their customers rather than welcoming. I understand that the service industry isn't fun to work in, but they could at least fake it. All-in-all, it's largely what you'd expect from a restaurant like it. Adequate to okay food. The menu does seem awfully expensive for the quality of food. On a whole I'm disappointed, there's a lot they could do to take their restaurant from just okay to being excellent. I hope that they try to make some of those changes in the upcoming years.

The food is great along with the workers there. I loved the pizza burger because I've never heard of a place making a burger like that. It was great! The only problem I had was it was very slow, they need more workers!

So glad we finally checked this place out! We had a great experience there. You can either eat in the dine-in area, which is a small room with an order counter with maybe 6 booths, or you can order to go from the outside window. We chose to dine in. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger, a regular cheeseburger, a Scottie's Special Burger, corn dog, chili dog, and tater tots for a late lunch. All of the burgers were awesome! Juicy and delicious, not too greasy and perfectly cooked. The Scottie's Special was really good! The hand-dipped corn dog was good too! My daughter ate the whole thing and she NEVER does that. We then tried the Pineapple and Pumpkin Pie milkshakes. OH MY! Some of the best i've ever tasted! So hands-down I must say that we really enjoyed the food and shakes. As far as service, I have no gripes. The guy who took our order was patient and helpful in explaining what the Scottie's Special was when i ordered it. Then he brought our order out to our table when it was ready and later checked on us to see if we enjoyed the meal. The prices were good, $30 fed all 5 of us well. We'll definitely be back when we come to Forest Grove! Love Scottie's!

OK burgers, good tots and shakes but it pretty spendy considering the burgers are just ok. I'd rather drive into Hillsboro to get Baker's Burgers.

Great local burger joint for good food. All the food is cooked per order. I would give it more stars if open on sundays. Why not close on Monday? Great sof-serve ice cream I would always get for my kids as they were growing up.

  • Sha J.

Their single burger was small but pretty good. Ice cream and malts are great BUT DON'T EXPECT GOOD SERVICE!!!! Highschool looking kids they have taking your order are either over worked out just plain hate their job. Not friendly, welcoming, try to rush you off and if you have a question, it's like you are bothering them. I walked up to the open window to order and the kid slammmed it and walked off. I wasn't sure what was going on. He came back, opened the window and without saying a word had pencil and order sheet in hand but didn't even look at me so I assumed he was ready to take my order. I will probably go back for their ice cream once in a great while but I would go back more often if their service was decent.

Horrible service. The little teenage girl with the glasses was absolutely rude along with the two other kids working the back. Not ONE of them offered to take our order up at the window. Clearly saw me and my cousin waiting to order. Didn't bother to open the window until someone else came up. And they took their order. We simply just left. How rude. Better training or new staff here please. Not a good look Scottie's!

We haven't had Scottie's since we graduated from Pacific. However, today we figured we'd pay them a visit. Especially since we use to LOVE their milkshakes! However, today was such a disappointment...I will never go back! We ordered a DBL cheese burger, bacon cheeseburger with grilled onions, DBL order fries and 2 milkshakes. This came out to $32.00. (That is crazy!) Especially because our burgers were tiny and tough and a little burnt. The Oreo, banana, strawberry milkshake was perfect...however the strawberry, banana, hot fudge milkshake tasted watery....When I brought it back to see if they could make it thicker they said no, the hot fudge melts the ice cream (I figured this but we put hot fudge on ice cream sundaes and its thick chocolate not watery Hersey's crap, keep in mind 5 dollars!). However, it tasted more like chocolate syrup. I figured I would try a different milkshake because I didn't want to drink watery flavored cream. So i re-ordered a milkshake minus the hot fudge, big whoop, that thing came back even more watery and they charged me another $5 but offered to throw away my other milkshake. (That's bull!) My suggestion is drive an extra 10-15 minutes to farmington and eat at Cruise in Diner. The quality of your burger and milkshake 100 times better and if not cheaper, you at least won't feel like you left cheated. Or go to Cornerstone Pub and order a starving student : Cheese Burger, Fries and a fountain drink $5 - $6(Pacific Students Only)

Had the Scottie's Special burger (pretty much a burger with sauces and a hot dog) and the pumpkin pie shake. Not bad. A bit pricey but I'd go again.

  • Erica Z.

Scottie's is a no frills old fashion hamburger place. I like the shakes but the fries and burgers are pretty greasy. The kids working the window are nice, service is slow but it's a small place and there are usually several people milling around outside if you want to chat while you wait. It's good if you need to get your greasy fix or want an ice cream.

  • Joe D.

Excellent old school flat top burgers! Had a strawberry Mail with a triple bacon cheese burger and it was good. My wife had a chili cheese dog, which while it wasn't as good as Portillios in the Chicago area it wasn't too bad. The fries was also good. I will definitely stop back once more to try it again when I am in the area.

  • Jacob G.

There's nothing like a good drive-in burger joint. Scottie's is a typical one: cheap burgers, fries, shakes, etc. I just got a regular cheeseburger since I had eaten just a couple hours before, but we were in town and we wanted to try this place. It was nothing extraordinary, but a place like this is good to me!

    (4)
  • Jennifer D.

This is a great, small-town hamburger joint. It is a one-of-a-kind place, not a big chain restaurant. Their hamburger patties are thin and juicy and their tater tots are super yummy! The staff is always friendly and it's great knowing money spent there is staying in the community!

    (4)
  • S. H.

Greasy, gassy, good! The menu prices haven't changed much since the seventies... it makes for the perfect complement to an indulgent day of winery tastings and a good way to sober up before the trek back to Portland. Two people could share a small order fries, but the burgers are just right.

    (4)
  • Robert F.

great burgers and excellent french fries! These burgers are MUCH better than at the Helvetia Tavern!

    (5)
  • Kevin S.

Pumpkin Pie Shakes!!! Made with real pie filling. If for nothing else this is a great little place to stop in grab a bite and killer shake!

Nothing says Forest Grove like Scotties. This place has been around longer than most other food joints in town (if not all). Great 70's drive in theme. Hasn't changed in 30 years. Great shakes and burgers. If you're in the Grove you've got to go to Scotties.

    (5)
  • Chris W.

I used to love this place but that was ten years ago. Since then the quality of the food has gone way down. We went there last night to try some of the old classics but they weren't up to par. Avoid this place if at all possible. It's overpriced and lacking any imagination. The service is crap and so is the food. I will never go back.

    (2)
  • Eric M.

I think this place is everything you want in a drive-in. Great fast food, and great ice cream. It's a little off the beaten path, but if you're in Forest Grove it's still easy enough to get to.
